When a person goes to a blood donation center, they are handed a list of questions.  These include questions about whether or not they've gotten a piercing or tattoo recently, been ill, or if you are a man who has been sexually active with another man since 1977.  

 

If you answer yes to the last, you will be placed on a lifetime ban list and forbidden from donating blood again.
